It’s 4:00 AM and I’m still awake, don’t know why.

Anyway, Apple Store is down for updates. I bet they’re going to add the fabled 16-core MacBook Pro today…errr…that doesn’t really exist. I’m really hoping a Quad-Core MacBook Pro.

Based on the circulating rumors, Core i5 and Core i7 MacBook Pro is coming really soon.

Now, if only I could get that one company the salary they owe me, I could immediately buy the 16-core MacBook Pro.

If you self-installed WordPress, you should upgrade to the latest release. WordPress 2.8.6 is now available.

It is available through the built-in upgrade feature or it can be downloaded from WordPress.org.

About WordPress 2.8.6 Security Release:

2.8.6 fixes two security problems that can be exploited by registered, logged in users who have posting privileges. If you have untrusted authors on your blog, upgrading to 2.8.6 is recommended.

The first problem is an XSS vulnerability in Press This discovered by Benjamin Flesch. The second problem, discovered by Dawid Golunski, is an issue with sanitizing uploaded file names that can be exploited in certain Apache configurations. Thanks to Benjamin and Dawid for finding and reporting these.

With all the security problems around previous versions of WordPress platform, it is a great idea to immediately upgrade WP installations to the latest available version. Take that, Scoble!

The great folks at WordPress.org have just released maintenance update to WordPress software. WordPress 2.8.2 can be obtained through WordPress.org site or can be automatically upgraded through WordPress Dashboard.

The automatic upgrade process was fast and painless.

WordPress for iPhone OS 3.0 is Now Available on iTunes Store.

After two week wait, WordPress for iPhone OS 3.0 is finally approved and available for download/update on iTunes Store.

Don’t be fooled with the version number embedded in the app itself. It might say version 1.21.1 and the iTunes App Store says version 1.3. All that matters is it is iPhone OS 3.0 compatible now.

iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 3 Expires on May 9th, 2009.

iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 5 is expiring around June 19th, 2009. Get iPhone OS 3.0 Official Release through iTunes.

As we have reported before, iPhone OS 3.0 Beta carries an expiration date. For those who has iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 3 still on their phone might have some purple shock today. As the software hits the expiration date, the iPhone displays purple screen with instructions to connect to iTunes. When connected, iTunes warned that the software has expired and must be updated to the newer version. In this state, the iPhone is rendered useless except for emergency calls. The most current version is iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 5 as of May 9th, 2009. Based on the expiration date of previous builds, iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 5 will expire on June 1st, 2009.

Mozilla Firefox is one of applications that I use on regular basis. I have been using different incarnations of Mozilla Firefox since its first inceptions. Anyone remember “Phoenix” browser?

I read this headline on Mozilla.org site and I am so confused.

Perian 1.1.2 is released today.

Fixed update checker never running – this version requires a manual install
Enabled frame-dropping on AppleTV
Fixed some frames being lost in AVCHD/.mp4 with newer versions of QuickTime
Fixed another ffmpeg crash on G3s

Apple releases iPhone Software 2.0.2 today. The update weighs in at 247.8MB for iPhone 3G and available through iTunes. The update for original iPhone weighs in at 241.9MB.

Apple describes the update contains “bug fixes” without any further explanations.

Be sure to back-up your iPhone before applying this update.

WordPress 2.6.1 Upgrade is Successful

After a few hours of confusions, WordPress 2.6.1 is finally working again on this blog. For some reasons there were some errors in connecting to the MySQL database. The weirdest thing is that the administration page was working normally, but any pages were blank.

I had to reset a few things, and finally this blog is back-up again.
