Unfortunately AVCHD is not directly supported under PowerPC architecture. You need to use a transcoder such as VoltaicHD - http://www.shedworx.com/voltaichd

I also have a Canon Vixia HG21 and am trying to find a good workflow to bring in the files into FCP on a power PC mac. Any advice?
