There is one thing I learned over the years about the media:

“Take the news with a grain or even boulder of salt.”

New York Times recently published a hit piece on Apple titled: “In China, Human Costs Are Built Into an iPad“. The article stirred a controversy in the Tech world. As usual, known Apple haters are getting off on the New York Times “expose” on Apple. On the other side, Apple fanatics are crying foul. 9to5Mac published the email from Tim Cook addressing the accusations made by the New York Times.

What the New York Time did is nothing more than going where the money is. Apple just had a record earnings surpassing almost all companies in the world. iPhone 4S was a best seller during the holiday season. Nothing but good news for Apple. An Article about Apple guarantees page hits. A scandalous Apple story guarantees the masses to flock to the New York Times, just to read and talk about the article.

At one point in my life, I believed that the media told the truth. That changed years ago. There are a lot of bias in media. After all, the articles are written by human with feelings, preference and affiliations. That’s why we all should take the story from the media with a grain or even a boulder of salt.

According to an Apple employee, the next iPad is not what people expect it to be. While providing no specific information, this Apple employee laughed when “Retina Display iPad” was mentioned. The last words were: “You don’t want to wait for the iPad 3 you’ve been hearing about.”

It is pretty apparent that this Apple employee just debunked a lot of the rumors on iPad 3. Let’s all not hold our breath for the “Retina Display iPad” for now. Even if the next iPad would have 2048-by-1536 resolution, it would only be at 264 pixels per inch. It would be a “Retina Display iPad” if the screen size would be a bit smaller, let’s say something like an 8.5-inch screen.

Then again, this “iPad 3″ might be dubbed as a 2011 Tech Flop by Taylor Hatmaker, because it doesn’t have 3D display and cannot be used as a hat.

That sounds like bullshit to me. Of course the Apple-centric sites are echoing the rumors because it is passable as Apple news.

“Don’t want to sound like a dick or nothing,” “a local Chinese-language newspaper” is not a credible source. There have been tons of rumors crediting “a local Chinese-language newspaper” in the past years, and almost all of them are just rumors.

In addition to that, a high level Apple executive who shall remain anonymous was overheard mentioning that March 2012 would be the planned release date for the next iPad. Apple is not scrambling to launch iPad 3 on Steve Jobs’ birthday.

Apple’s “Let’s talk iPhone.” event is less than six hours away, yet the rumors and speculations are still running rampant. As usual, numbers of the invitees will be reporting live from 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, CA 95014; many call it liveblogging. The funniest part about this event and many Apple events, a lot of bloggers and sites are pulling a Gizmodo. You are not liveblogging if you’re not there. You’re not invited and obviously you’re not even there. How in the world can you be reporting live, giving a play by play of the event? Apparently you’re planning to steal the reports from people who are actually in there.

Harry McCracken of Technologizer was supposedly invited to the event but unable to attend due to a previously scheduled engagement. Instead of pretending to be liveblogging from the venue, McCracken asked Macworld permission to embed the live feed. That’s the proper way to do it. I respect McCracken.

So, if you’re not even there and you’re claiming to be live reporting/liveblogging then you are either a thief or a liar; possibly both.

Then people starts panicking and protesting Apple; on their blogs.

Pardon the profanities.

Seriously, calm the fuck down! It is a fucking patent filing.

Should RIAA and MPAA wanted this technology to be built into the phones, the patent holder can just say no.

In addition to that I would be really happy to be able to watch bands like Bad Religion and Slayer live without having 100 people right in front of me raising their phone videotaping the stage.

Go ahead, jump to your conclusion and stop buying/using any Apple products right now.
