Apple finally released OS X Lion on July 20th, 2011 and effectively lifted up the NDA. First of reviews were publish shortly after and these reviewers were honoring the NDA/embargo. There are some who broke the NDA/embargo, just look for the published reviews pre-dating the July 20th, 2011. Apparently getting a lot of page hit is a lot more important than writing an objective reviews.

Just like Michael Moore on the Republican. Just like Rush Limbaugh on the Democrats. Just Like Glen Beck on the Liberals. That’s what Ed Bott on Apple. Take what Bott says with a boulder of salt.
This is from today:

I picked up a Hitachi 500GB 7200RPM 2.5-inch hard drive at Fry’s Electronic earlier this week. After installing and configuring the system through FireWire I finally installed the hard drive on the MacBook Pro Core Duo.

On the similar note, I really need to get a new MacBook Pro.

I am really grateful for DropBox. It has made my life one step easier.
Sharing files between my computers couldn’t be any easier; considering that I’m running different Operating Systems.

Well, I am re-installing Mac OS X Snow Leopard on my 15-inch MacBook Pro Core Duo. I have been running Snow Leopard Developer Beta and updating it to the current version. There might be some leftovers that might cause a little problems with some apps, primarily with Adobe Creative Suite 4.
I’ve just finished backing up all the data and now typing this. Synced all the iPhones and iPods too.
Here I go.

I installed Windows 7 Enterprise Edition RTM on my 15-inch MacBook Pro Core Duo. Everything seems to be working well initially. Most device drivers were installed by Windows 7. Boot Camp Windows Support took care of the rest of the drivers including the trackpad, iSight and keyboard drivers.
For some reasons after a few reboots, iSight driver kept crashing. At this point Apple has not officially supported Windows 7 yet.
As expected, Windows 7 prompted me to install some anti-malware software and I opted to install Microsoft Security Essentials Beta. Shortly after Windows 7 started crashing. I tried to roll back Windows 7 using System Restore, but unfortunately it failed. I tried uninstalling Microsoft Security Essentials Beta but it wouldn’t run under Safe Mode. Windows 7 always crashes unless it is in Safe Mode.
I am going re-format and install the system all over again.

I was just about to install Windows 7 RTM on the MacBook Pro Core Duo. Unfortunately Boot Camp Assistant is unable to relocate files on the hard drive to create a 32 GB partition.
Well, I’m going to wait for this weekend to see if Snow Leopard would actually be released. It’s an excuse for backing-up and initializing the hard drive.
Until then I’d put this project on hold and installing Windows 7 on an older Gateway PC instead.

On Monday May 4th, 2009 I had a remote recording session with Carlos Alazraqui and Cedric Yarbrough. Some might ask why I put Carlos before Cedric. The answer is pretty simple. Alphabetically Carlos Alazraqui comes before Cedric Yarbrough; be it by the first name or the last name.
We recorded a simple video using a Polycarbonate MacBook built-in iSight straight into iMovie ’09. Carlos and Cedric recorded their parts while I was 40-something miles away. Yes, we were using iChat to set-up, edit and encode the video.
After the video was done I uploaded it to a server so it can be downloaded by someone in the East Coast.
That was a great use of technology.

I think I have enough for tonight. I’ve been color correcting the video clips for a while now. I can’t really make the colors of the videos from three different cameras to be exactly the same. They are close enough.
I’m going to email Carlos some test footage for him to review.

Note to self:
Try out Google Sync for iPhone. It’s available for Mac and Windows.
