You’re not even there.

Posted in Announcements, Apple, iPhone, News, Rants, Tech at 4:07 am by 37prime

Apple’s “Let’s talk iPhone.” event is less than six hours away, yet the rumors and speculations are still running rampant. As usual, numbers of the invitees will be reporting live from 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, CA 95014; many call it liveblogging. The funniest part about this event and many Apple events, a lot of bloggers and sites are pulling a Gizmodo. You are not liveblogging if you’re not there. You’re not invited and obviously you’re not even there. How in the world can you be reporting live, giving a play by play of the event? Apparently you’re planning to steal the reports from people who are actually in there.

Harry McCracken of Technologizer was supposedly invited to the event but unable to attend due to a previously scheduled engagement. Instead of pretending to be liveblogging from the venue, McCracken asked Macworld permission to embed the live feed. That’s the proper way to do it. I respect McCracken.

So, if you’re not even there and you’re claiming to be live reporting/liveblogging then you are either a thief or a liar; possibly both.

Game of the day: Jump To Conclusion, Apple Edition.

Posted in Apple, iPhone, Media, News, Rants, Tech at 4:08 am by 37prime

Once upon a time Apple filed a patent on infrared system for the iPhone that might receive commands to disable video recording on the device. Then people starts panicking and protesting Apple; on their blogs.

Pardon the profanities.

Seriously, calm the fuck down! It is a fucking patent filing.

Should RIAA and MPAA wanted this technology to be built into the phones, the patent holder can just say no.

In addition to that I would be really happy to be able to watch bands like Bad Religion and Slayer live without having 100 people right in front of me raising their phone videotaping the stage.

Go ahead, jump to your conclusion and stop buying/using any Apple products right now.

The Paranoids and Opportunists: Apple Location History Debacle.

Posted in Apple, iPad, iPhone, News, Rants, Security, Tech at 2:44 pm by 37prime

If you are a paranoid, you should immediately abandon anything you have made by Apple. Throwaway your iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro, Magic Mouse, Apple Keyboard, etc.

Since you’ve just read it on the Internet, then everything you could fear must be true. Someone just reposted the content from someone else’s site on a blog.

If you are an opportunist, this is the perfect time to bash Apple. How dare Apple become a popular brand? I use [insert a branded product here] and it is a million times better than Apple ever made.

If you are another type of an opprtunist, you should file lawsuit against Apple right now. You don’t need to have all the facts as long as you’re making headlines.

If you are a paranoid and an opprtunist, you definitely should stand on a soap box. After doing so, get yourself any attorney who would file lawsuit against Apple. You don’t need to know the fact because once you do you might not be able to sue.

Please do panic and abandon Apple.

Posted in Apple, iPad, iPhone, iPod, Media, News, Rants, Resources, Security, Tech, Troubleshooting at 3:20 pm by 37prime

Since everyone on the Internet is saying that Apple is definitely tracking your iOS movement, then it must be true. To make matter worse, Senator Al Franken (D-MN) and Representative Ed Markey (D-MA) have sent queries to Steve Jobs about this issue. Adding insults to the injuries, thousands if not infinite numbers of bloggers are busy wearing out their “C” and “V” keys reposting the story over and over again. Apple must be the bad guy, right?

What are you waiting for, its time to abandon Apple. Throw away your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Buy only Android/Windows Phone 7/webOS/Blackberry/etc. that is non Apple devices. Please do panic now.

In related news, Google captured your password while taking pictures of your house. Please do panic!

Please do panic!

I need to take classes in sarcasm.

Microsoft shipped 1.5 million Windows Phone 7 devices, so they say.

Posted in iPhone, Media, Microsoft, Music, Resources, Tech at 4:16 am by very

Many news outlet reported (e.g. 1 and 2) that Microsoft claimed that they shipped 1.5 million Windows Phone 7 devices in its first 6 weeks.

For those who are fans of Microsoft’s:

“That’s amazing. It took Apple 74 days to sell 1 million iPhones. Forget about the first official Android phone. Suck on that Apple!”

For those who are critics of Microsoft’s:

“Apple sold 1.7 million iPhone 4 in its first three days. Google activates around 300,000 Android phones each day recently. What’s the big deal?”

If you are not Paul Thurrott, then you would point out:

From Microsoft’s own story:

Another is phone manufacturer sales – phones being bought and stocked by mobile operators and retailers on their way to customers. We are pleased that phone manufacturers sold over 1.5 million phones in the first six weeks, which helps build customer momentum and retail presence.

What does that mean? It means Microsoft has 1.5 million of Windows Phone 7 devices (saying “Windows Phone 7 phone” is really awkward) on consignment. They are not necessarily sold to end users yet.

Definitions of “Consignment” from:

I would buy an unlocked Windows Phone 7 phone as long as it does not cost as much as the original iPhone and Nexus One. Did I mentioned that I bought the original iPhone and Nexus One unlocked? I would also buy an unlocked Palm Pre 2 if I don’t have to pay full price. I am refraining myself from buying Nexus S for now until an AT&T version is released.

A crazy little thing called smartphone-related-lawsuits.

Posted in Announcements, Apple, iPhone, Media, Microsoft, News, Resources, Tech at 1:39 pm by 37prime

The news broke that Apple has filed countersuits against Motorola over iPhone multi-touch patents.

Apple was expected to countersue after Motorola filed pre-emptive suit against Apple in early October 2010. Prior to filing the suits against Apple, Motorola was sued by Microsoft over Android. Microsoft is alleging that Android is infringing their patents.

Let’s not forget the lawsuits between Apple and HTC and the “Patent deal” between Microsoft and HTC. It’s all related to Android.

It is a mess!

Thank You Apple Genius and AppleCare.

Posted in Announcements, Apple, iPhone, Media, News, Resources, Tech, Troubleshooting, Uncategorized at 5:39 am by 37prime

On Monday October 11th, 2010 I was having problem with my iPhone 3GS which is also my primary phone. After losing all network connections, it rebooted and going into DFU mode. I tried reinstalling the latest iOS available for the iPhone 3GS but I kept getting a baseband error message. I spent quite a lot of time looking for a way to get the iPhone 3GS working again. Unfortunately I found out that the problem was hardware related.

Tuesday Afternoon, I tried installing the latest iOS available again. The same baseband problem persisted. So I called AppleCare for assistance. Unfortunately during the conversations with an AppleCare representative the phone connection was interrupted. I managed to set up an appointment at an Apple Store Genius Bar.

I arrived at the Apple Store Genius Bar a few hours later. Shortly after explaining the circumstance, the Apple Genius took down the iPhone 3GS serial number and told me the good news. I was getting a replacement for the iPhone 3GS. I also noticed on the Genius Bar Work Authorization & Service Confirmation sheet the informations I provided to the AppleCare representative a few hours earlier.

Within minutes I had an iPhone 3GS replacement in my hand.

I now have a working iPhone 3GS again. Thank You Apple Genius and AppleCare.

I really am grateful for the help from the Apple Genius for going out of his way to make sure I have my problems resolved.

Everyone is an RF Antenna Expert Now.

Posted in Apple, iPhone, Media, News, Tech at 4:15 pm by 37prime

iPhone 4 has apparently encouraged people to become RF Antenna experts. Just look at the comments at Digg or Reddit, Apple-centric sites and anti-Apple sites. Everyone knows exactly what’s going on in the RF Antenna world. Not that it requires some kind of education in certain field to become RF Antenna expert.

I am for sure not an RF Antenna expert, but I always tkae everything I read with a grain or sometimes a boulder of salt. The last time I checked both iPhone 3GS and Nexus One suffers from the death grip issue. Even further, bot iPhone 3GS and Nexus One are dropping calls in the usual spots. Thanks AT&T. I do not have an iPhone 4, but I have tested a few of them. From what I’ve experience, my death grip skill must be really rusty. I could not drop any calls on the iPhone whichever way I held it. Then again it is likely that I was in the area where AT&T really pays attention to and providing really strong signals.

iPhone 4 is a big and convenient target. Everybody wants to be William Tell. Everybody is an RF Antenna Expert now.

Dear Steve Jobs, All I want for June 24th is a White iPhone 4.

Posted in Announcements, Apple, iPhone, Media, News, Resources, Tech at 1:21 pm by very

So, the iPhone 4 pre-order has begun. AT&T is having so much problems with the account verification. So, it’s not really a surprise. This is the fourth year AT&T having problems with regards to iPhone.

Besides the whole AT&T problems, apparently the White iPhone 4 is not available for pre-order or reservations. Should I send an email to Steve Jobs?

Another round of Cold is coming.

Posted in Announcements, Apple, iPhone, iPod, iTunes, Media, News, Resources, Tech at 12:26 am by very

I felt a little bit under the weather on Tuesday April 06th, 2010. I supposed I caught a Cold bug sometimes on Sunday or Monday. Unfortunately I am having trouble sleeping. I need rest now.

OK, I’m going to post this and try getting some sleep.

I’ll write more later today (Wednesday). As we all know Thrusday will be another Apple News Day with the sneak peak of iPhone OS 4 and I’m hoping the Developer preview will be made available on the same day.

As usual, Apple will be enforcing NDA on the iPhone OS 4 Developer Preview. I am sure I can show what they’ll be showing on Thursday.
