I was talking to some colleague about todays tech news and one subject came up. We discussed it briefly based on what we know and have. Even though we feel it is a newsworthy development, we decided not to publicly reported it. Why? That’s because we’re bound by Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). We could easily dance around the NDA and reported it. We chose not to report it even though there are others who already posted the details and screen shots of the said topic.

The headline reads: “Apple scrambling to launch iPad 3 on Steve Jobs’ birthday”
That sounds like bullshit to me. Of course the Apple-centric sites are echoing the rumors because it is passable as Apple news.
“Don’t want to sound like a dick or nothing,” “a local Chinese-language newspaper” is not a credible source. There have been tons of rumors crediting “a local Chinese-language newspaper” in the past years, and almost all of them are just rumors.
In addition to that, a high level Apple executive who shall remain anonymous was overheard mentioning that March 2012 would be the planned release date for the next iPad. Apple is not scrambling to launch iPad 3 on Steve Jobs’ birthday.

Yahoo! Small Business Hosting now supports MySQL 5.1.55 and PHP 5.3.6. This is good news for those using Yahoo! Small Business Hosting to host their WordPress.org installation; it is now compatible with WordPress 3.2 or higher. This also means you can take advantage of WordPress JetPack plugins.
If you are running WordPress on Yahoo! Small Business Hosting, you should upgrade to MySQL 5.1.55, PHP 5.3.6 and WordPress 3.2.1 as soon as possible.

Apple’s “Let’s talk iPhone.” event is less than six hours away, yet the rumors and speculations are still running rampant. As usual, numbers of the invitees will be reporting live from 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, CA 95014; many call it liveblogging. The funniest part about this event and many Apple events, a lot of bloggers and sites are pulling a Gizmodo. You are not liveblogging if you’re not there. You’re not invited and obviously you’re not even there. How in the world can you be reporting live, giving a play by play of the event? Apparently you’re planning to steal the reports from people who are actually in there.
Harry McCracken of Technologizer was supposedly invited to the event but unable to attend due to a previously scheduled engagement. Instead of pretending to be liveblogging from the venue, McCracken asked Macworld permission to embed the live feed. That’s the proper way to do it. I respect McCracken.
So, if you’re not even there and you’re claiming to be live reporting/liveblogging then you are either a thief or a liar; possibly both.

Just like Michael Moore on the Republican. Just like Rush Limbaugh on the Democrats. Just Like Glen Beck on the Liberals. That’s what Ed Bott on Apple. Take what Bott says with a boulder of salt.

WordPress 3.1.2 was out on Tuesday April 26th, 2011. If you are running your own WordPress installation, you should upgrade right away.
If I remembered it correctly starting with WordPress 3.2 requires PHP5 and mySQL 5.

I’m heading out to Lexington Theatre in Los Angeles for Carlos Alazraqui and friends show. Sean Corvelle will be the host for the evening. We’re planning to spend the rest of the evening somewhere in Downtown Los Angeles after the show.

The news broke that Apple has filed countersuits against Motorola over iPhone multi-touch patents.
Apple was expected to countersue after Motorola filed pre-emptive suit against Apple in early October 2010. Prior to filing the suits against Apple, Motorola was sued by Microsoft over Android. Microsoft is alleging that Android is infringing their patents.
Let’s not forget the lawsuits between Apple and HTC and the “Patent deal” between Microsoft and HTC. It’s all related to Android.
It is a mess!

Steve Ballmer announced that Ray Ozzie will be stepping down as Microsoft’s Chief Software Architect.
Maybe Microsoft has not been supporting Ray Ozzie’s ideas. Now he’s getting pushed out.

On Monday October 11th, 2010 I was having problem with my iPhone 3GS which is also my primary phone. After losing all network connections, it rebooted and going into DFU mode. I tried reinstalling the latest iOS available for the iPhone 3GS but I kept getting a baseband error message. I spent quite a lot of time looking for a way to get the iPhone 3GS working again. Unfortunately I found out that the problem was hardware related.
Tuesday Afternoon, I tried installing the latest iOS available again. The same baseband problem persisted. So I called AppleCare for assistance. Unfortunately during the conversations with an AppleCare representative the phone connection was interrupted. I managed to set up an appointment at an Apple Store Genius Bar.
I arrived at the Apple Store Genius Bar a few hours later. Shortly after explaining the circumstance, the Apple Genius took down the iPhone 3GS serial number and told me the good news. I was getting a replacement for the iPhone 3GS. I also noticed on the Genius Bar Work Authorization & Service Confirmation sheet the informations I provided to the AppleCare representative a few hours earlier.
Within minutes I had an iPhone 3GS replacement in my hand.
I now have a working iPhone 3GS again. Thank You Apple Genius and AppleCare.
I really am grateful for the help from the Apple Genius for going out of his way to make sure I have my problems resolved.
